No. 493*

This letter was sent to Reb Yaakov Katz, one of the initial supporters of Lubavitch activities in America.
B"H, 9 Sivan, 5709

Greetings and blessings,

Enclosed is my letter to our friend, R. Yosef Robinson.[398]

I must pay the printer no later than the week after Shabbos, so that he will not, Heaven forbid, stop the work on the Sdei Chemed. I am certain that you will — with G-d’s help — do everything you can so that the check can be deposited no later than the week after Shabbos.

In my letter to our friend, Mr. Robinson, I did not want to elaborate [in the explanation of] our Sages’ interpretation [of the phrase]: “And you shall surely tithe.” I hope, however, that you will [find] an opportunity to study with him the maamar entitled VeHarikosi Lachem Berachah in Sefer HaMaamarim Yiddish, p. 94. This will have a substantial effect on him.

With greetings and with blessings for good in all matters,

Rabbi Menachem Schneerson
Chairman of the Executive Committee
